Well known transport identity, Mr Bob Martin, from JOST Australia has decided to retire from JOST after 24 years of dedicated service.

Bob’s duration at JOST has been Queensland based, as the Brisbane branch manager from 2001, a role he held for 18 years, before moving into a National Training Manager.

Prior to that Bob worked for BPW Transpec and was employed by them in the mid 90’s, totalling 30 years in the transport industry.

During his 30 years Bob has amassed many achievements and seen a lot of changes within the transport industry and within JOST. One of Bob’s greatest achievements was to spearhead the JOST Brisbane move to their current Wacol facility.

Whilst employed at JOST, Bob was also a very active member of the then CVIAQ, which later became the HVIA that we know today.

Bob joined the board of the CVIAQ and became board president, a role he held for 6 years, presiding over three Brisbane Truck Shows.  Bob was involved in a number of crucial decisions while at CVIAQ, the first was to move the Brisbane Truck Show (BTS) from the RNA grounds to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.  Next was the construction of a purpose built home for the association at Seventeen Mile Rocks and finally, the transition of a state based CVIAQ, into a fully National association, the HVIA that we see today.  One of Bob’s claims to fame was to be the last ever CVIAQ president and the first,  inaugural HVIA president.  During this time Bob was also involved on the judging panel of the Apprentice of the Year Awards.

In 2021, Bob was recognised for his contribution to the transport industry by being awarded the “Industry Recognition Award” by the HVIA board, an award Bob is extremely proud of.

Bob has also contributed to a number of other industry associations over his time in the industry, namely the QTA, ATA (both the Industry Technical Council and the Technical Maintenance Conferences), ARTSA, CVIAA.

Over the years Bob has also worked very closely with a number of state and territory based Police and Transport enforcement bodies by providing training and technical advice on the JOST product range.

Whilst Bob has retired from JOST to spend time with his family and enjoy the great outdoors, he’ll ease into this. Bob’s passion for the industry is still alive and well. You might see him on the road moving some equipment around amongst other things

We at JOST wish Bob all the very best for wherever his future may take him and we look forward to continuing a strong and healthy relationship with this transport industry “Icon”. Guru Bob as we at JOST call him, because of his years of experiences and all-round knowledge.
